WHY do people compare apples and oranges as if they were one and the same fruit and then all pissed off when they aren't?!? Yeah, Sniper is a spell, but it makes more sense to be on a ranger skillbar (ok, ok, so I like to roleplay and make *logical* skill decisions rather than "OMG, I'm so uber leet 'cause I'm a fire-breathing bear monk"!)

Took Sniper out last night and was actually rather pleased with the results; I'd never bothered with it before. The least damage I did was 48 (armor resistance) and the most was 655 (again, armor played a factor). My 10% seemed to always kick in with bosses - which was awfully nice. Now I'm wondering about going beyond rank 5 Ebon. Not much tempted me before this point - too many good to decent skills already to bother with most of the flavor-of-the-month PvE ones.

OMG, 10% to do +900 damage, that's overkill.

Can you say...headshot on Shiro?

True. My Ranger doesn't have much to do (heroes on auto-pilot), so I probably will take that skill just to mess around. Unless I think SY is more important... In most of the cases, it is. Well, if I want to have a bit of random fun, I'll take it anyway.

I hope you're joking, especially since I pointed out last page that it's no more powerful than [Spoil Victor] against a high-level boss.

Where do you get 100,000? In HM Shiro is 6800, granted he has mad skills, but his HP isn't 100,000+.....

What the OP is not factoring into his math equation is the effect of enemy monks. Sure Lightning orb will do more damage over the long haul, but going against an enemy monk (like Margonite Anur Ki in Foundry or City), Lightning Orb WILL NEVER kill the Ki or out DPS his healing by itself. EVSS will be able to kill the Ki all by itself assuming you get lucky.

The skill sucks, get over it. Anet may screw up some skills, but occasionally, they get them right. I'm sure they didn't throw this skill in there to have every farmer in the world take it with them. Just for a 'lulz' effect of "BOOM! HEADSHOT!"

oh man i forgot i how serious pve was my bad for using a skill that was amusing...

go find something real to worry and care about. i hear russia just invaded a country, go argue about that, crunch some numbers for that.

to the OP, your math teacher is ashamed.

EVSS is fun, yes; I would only use it in Charr areas, however. Basically it's not that great because most of the time it does shitty damage.

Please stop saying it's fun, who cares how good it is. This thread is aimed at people who think it's an amazing skill, not people who think it's a fun skill.

You get a 10% chance of face raping them (charr only). And a 90% chance of fail. So. Its good 10% of the time. The rest its "eh extra damge why not" But thats my 2 cents in this. IMO if you fight char. Bring it if not. Don't

I gave it a try on a discord build, it's ok...
The bleeding helps, and if you get the bonus, well you move on to the next one and hope for the same :P
I wouldn't take it otherwise, way too random

You got it wrong, it's 25% chance against Charr and 10% on normal foes.

I took it on a FoW trip with Guildies along with Sin Support and was every impressed with the number of straight kills it gave me - enough to keep us out of trouble. Also as a Splinter Barrage ranger (most of the time) I haven't got any means of using Ele skills so it fits for me.

The update is doing its intended job, folk are having to think again about composing a skill bar and not just Slot 1= Ursan Blessing, Slot 2-8=any old rubbish skill!
